Pokie Review Sling Fire

Ever since we first laid eyes on the flipping, spinning lever-action reloadwe just knew this one would be a crowd-pleaser.

But now that the Slingfire is out in the wild, the reality of its design hits home. If the target market is teenage and young-adult males, Nerf hit this one right on the mark. Yes, there may have been some inspiration taken from the nearly decade-old Buzz Bee Rapid Fire Tek lever-action rifle, but the Slingfire looks much less like a toy than that model, and more like something hand-built for use as a movie prop.

Ergonomically, the Zombie Strike Slingfire has a pleasingly lightweight feel, with an overall size that is neither too big, nor too small. One other quick note—the clip remains locked and will not release unless the priming lever is fully forward and the clip release tab is depressed. This is kind of an odd design decision, since the instruction manual encourages the user not to leave the Slingfire primed when not in use, but in order to load the clip back into the blaster, the lever has to be moved such that the Slingfire is then primed.

Most darts reached distances of slightly less than the low foot range, but few were complete duds, either. Consider us unimpressed, but not exactly surprised. Turning to our Competition Electronics Pro Chrono with indoor lighting kit, we measured an average dart speed of 64 feet-per-second at a distance of approximately 1 foot, and using a mix of new or nearly new darts.

Turning to rate-of-fire, with the unique, lever-action priming, we were able to do no better than 1. Our initial tests were a bit slower, but over time, this proved to be the maximum we were capable of achieving. It was almost comically bad how darts would veer strongly left one time, strongly right the next time, and then almost dead straight the next. There was no rhyme or reason that we could detect, since there were no environmental factor present, and we only used brand new darts that were not damaged in any way that we could detect.

So, the Slingfire is no barn-burner when it comes to performance.

We have no indication that anything was amiss with our sample, though in fairness, we currently only have one unit on-hand to test. So for now, we have to tell it like it is—the Slingfire is simply not a stellar performer, at least in our experience to-date. The Slingfire, like virtually all recent Nerf products, is built extremely well and is clearly made of quality materials.

And the Slingfire is a prime example of all of those traits, bar none. When it comes to just having fun, the Slingfire is not to be missed.

That why this gaming Sling Review Pokie Fire farm

The lever-action priming is a rewarding challenge that looks awesome when pulled-off correctly. We have no doubt the more talented gun-slingers among us will be posting some impressive Slingfire YouTube videos in no time at all.

If you get a chance, try it out for yourself. And first impressions are good: Yet, its actual performance is somewhat disappointingly average.

So how do we judge the value of a product that delivers so highly in some areas, but leaves us flat in others? Well, for those who want the best-looking, well-built, and fun-to-use blaster for the money, we can easily recommend the Slingfire. But for those who are thinking the Slingfire might be a fun addition to their load-out on game day, we might suggest giving that a second thought. I have one, and I love it.

Besides, what do you expect for a gun this nice yet this cheap? They just shoot out of it. Might be a problem for just me, though.

Otherwise, the terrible fake hand wrapping is VERY uncomfortable, and I had to hammer it off with a hammer, chisel and good sized flathead screwdriver. First thing after I get the paint off the stock will be to re-wrap it with some scrap leather. I took a picture to show you… the red arrow points to what was bound up. Both of them managed to get magazines stuck in them in one game session, requiring some serious work with various tools.

I think this review needs an update. The original green breech models of this blaster had performance issues that were resolved with the later models which have a black breech. You can see in the images that blasterlabs was testing an earlier model, the crappy one with the green breech. However, this is not atypical of Nerf products… the Centurion is the most well-known example of a product that was released to the public with issues, only to be improved in later iterations.

Quality, Value and Fun The Slingfire, like virtually all recent Nerf products, is built extremely well and is clearly made of quality materials.

Can you recommend there something? I have read it should not damage plastic, the plunger, etc. So i found a german brand called "Presto" which produces a white grease-spray with lithium and i would go with it. I would use this stuff spray products are poor for Nerf as they go where you don't want them. The stock lube job from the factory is pretty good on the gear teeth. Okey, so I got the Slingfire a few days ago, today I took it apart and glued the clutch springs in place with an epoxycomponent-glue that needs to harden days, so that should keep them in place I think.

I ordered the spring from Blasterparts some days ago, tomorrow it should arrive and then I should be good to go. I have one and love it. It hasn't broken yet but it yet, but like everyone else has said it's a lot more durable then it appears or feels.

I love mine just because of how fun it is. Sure there are ones that preform better or are easier to mod, but just not as fun as the slingfire. So far each of my new favorites are fitting into their own roles.

I enjoy my rampage for overall use, Rapidstrike for when the time calls for an assault or offence, but the sling is just to fun not to use. The newer ones preform well enough to be used and the look and feel are just enough to make using it feel awesome.

The maverick is just so so very terrible that I would recommended any blaster in the elite series and beyond. I have never read about the lever breaking off, just the slip catch issue with the gears inside. It should get you about 85fps once installed. It's a little more durable than it seems, but still mildly flimsy. It's not like it'll break off without some serious trying, though. That said, it's kind of Still, the moment you slap in a stronger spring or kit you lose a bit of the "trick-prime" functionality, so you're left with a stubby lever-action Retaliator wannabe.

A wannabe that performs just a little worse, to boot. For that reason alone, mine just collects dust. But thanks a lot for mentioning it! Yup, I just ordered the "bundle" with the Slingfire and the drum-mag, and as far as I have read, in the bundle there should be the black-breeched one.

Thanks for the headsup! My biggest gripe is the reloading mechanism. It's awkward and you often have to take your hand off the handle to do it if the clip doesn't fall out on its own.

Actually, that's not a big turn-down for me, since I'll be using the Slingfire most of the time just for the cool reloading mechanic. And since I got the bundle, I'll also have a drum-mag for it, which makes up for the un-cool and cimplicated reload.

Don't expect to do the flip-priming with anything more than a 6-dart magazine, otherwise you will bust your knuckles, and in the case of the 25 dart drum, bend up the priming handle. It's just too heavy and it tends to flop around. Slingfire gets Elite ranges, which should be much further than your Maverick. The lever is pretty durable, even though it looks like it might be flimsy. I own one, and it's one of my favorite rifle-style springers. Not exactly the most war practical, but still a ton of fun, and if you're good with them, you can even dual wield!

Personally I'm a huge fan of Lever Action and the Slingfire was a massive letdown. Admittably that was because the original launch ones if you see a green bolt in the barrel, run sucked horribly, but other than that it's just a mediocre blaster. I did do this with two of them. Damn, what you did there Does double-awesome work with lever-actions?

Apparently, Yes, it does ;. I'd say that's not bad. The 25 round drums are awesome. I know prices on that side of the pond suck though, so when converted it's a bit high. However, could you provide and give us some more insight on how and why you think "Nope"?

Well, maybe it's "ugly as shit" for you, but well, yeah, well, y'know, that's just like -uuhh- your opinion, man.

Sorry, if this may be offensive, but you can have the rest, take it squarewise and put it where the sun doesn't shine: Nah srsly, trolls gonna be trolls. And as long as this is given, I'm ok with it. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy.
